Welcome to the College of Business at the University of Western Sydney.
The college provides innovative and comprehensive business education to the Greater Western Sydney region and beyond, offering a distinctive range of professionally accredited and industry-recognised courses designed to lead to successful and fulfilling careers in the fields of business and law both in Australia and in the global market place.
The College of Business prides itself on maintaining a high level of community engagement and industry involvement in the Greater Western Sydney region.
The college consists of five schools - accounting, economics and finance, law, management, and marketing. These schools provide coursework and research programs at undergraduate and postgraduate level in various legal and business fields. The postgraduate courses offered by these schools are administered by the Sydney Graduate School of Business.
Teaching and research activities in these schools are formed by close links with industry, giving our courses a high degree of relevance with employers, and ensuring innovative and progressive course content. Our courses are well-recognised by business and the professions for their relevance and applied nature, and where appropriate, are accredited by the relevant bodies.
The college has active links with universities throughout Asia, the Pacific, Europe and the USA. These provide a range of opportunities for in-country study, study abroad, and staff and student exchange, as well as academic collaboration and research. Close links with industry and community groups enable us to offer a variety of donor funded and University scholarships for talented students. Some of these scholarships are specific for certain courses or areas of study, while others use more general criteria. Our courses are well-recognised by business and the professions for their relevance and applied nature, and where appropriate, are accredited by peak bodies.
The college is committed to developing high quality graduates and every year we recognise the outstanding academic achievement of our students through the Dean's Merit List (PDF). This list is compiled at the end of each academic year and includes the names of those students enrolled in the College of Business who, in the previous academic year, completed at least 40 credit points and had a grade point average (GPA) of 6.0 or greater, and were in the top 10 per cent of the college cohort.
The college also includes a research centre, the Centre for Industry and Innovation Studies, and a number of research groups.
