Professor Janice Reid AM

Vice-Chancellor Professor Janice Reid

Professor Janice Reid has been Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Western Sydney since 1998. She is a recipient of several major awards and honours both in Australia and overseas, and has been a member of the boards of public agencies and non-profit organisations at State and Federal levels in the health, welfare, schools, higher education, energy, pension fund, international relations, arts and heritage fields.

In January 1998, Professor Reid was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to cross-cultural public health research and the development of health services for socio-economically disadvantaged groups in the community, and in 2003 received the Centenary Medal for service to Australian society in health and university administration.


Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Corporate Strategy and Services)
Rhonda Hawkins

Rhonda Hawkins

Rhonda Hawkins was appointed to the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Corporate Strategy and Services) and University Provost of the University of Western Sydney in 2005.

Prior to her current position, Rhonda was University Secretary and Head of the Division of Corporate Services (1991-2005) at UWS. Her first position with the University was as the Director of Institutional Equity Policy and Grievance Resolution Unit and Director of Equity.

 


Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research)
Professor Andrew Cheetham

Professor Andrew CheethamProfessor Andrew Cheetham joined the University of Western Sydney in 2007 as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) and was appointed Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) in January 2013. He is responsible for leading strategic development and management of research and research training at the University, with the aim of providing a research-rich environment, valued for the quality, distinctiveness and impact of its research programs and training.

Prior to joining UWS, Professor Cheetham held the following positions at the University of Canberra: PVC Research and Information Management (2003-2006); Deputy Director of the Division of Business and Information Sciences (2003); and Head of the School of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (2000-2002).

Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Kerri-Lee Krause

Professor Kerri-Lee KrauseProfessor Kerri-Lee Krause is Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) and Professor of Higher Education. She was appointed to the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor Education in October 2011. Prior to that she held an academic position at the University of Melbourne in the Centre for the Study of Higher Education before being appointed as Director and Chair of Higher Education, Griffith Institute for Higher Education, Griffith University. 



 



Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Planning)
Professor Steve Wilson

Professor Steve WilsonProfessor Steve Wilson is Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Planning), a new position at UWS to which he was appointed in November 2012. He brings to the position extensive experience in academic leadership and planning, and in leadership in university engagement.

Professor Wilson joined UWS in 1990 and has served in a variety of roles over the subsequent 23 years. He has been the Head of three academic units (Schools): the School of Lifelong Learning and Educational Change (1998-2000), the School of Social Ecology and Lifelong Learning (2001-2005), and most recently, as Head and Dean of the School of Education (2005-2012).


Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students and International)
Angelo Kourtis

Angelo Kourtis

Angelo Kourtis has been a member of the UWS community since 1986, as a student, graduate and as a member of staff. Commencing as a UWS staff member in the role of Course Information Officer in 1992, he held a number of senior marketing and student recruitment roles before being appointed to the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students) in October 2011 and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students and International) in May 2013.

Playing a leading role in developing a positive student experience, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students and International) integrates the functions of student recruitment and engagement, student administration, student services, widening participation, campus safety and security, and residential services to deliver an environment where UWS students can fulfil their aspirations.


Chief Financial Officer
Peter Pickering

Peter PickeringPeter Pickering was appointed Chief Financial Officer in August 2011. Prior to this he was the Director of Finance, having joined the University in November 2009.

Peter has enjoyed an extensive and varied career in a variety of senior management positions with major Australian and international corporations. Prior to joining UWS, he spent 15 years in the telecommunications industry, primarily with Telstra but also with international joint ventures in Korea and Indonesia working with NTT, Sumitomo, Indosat and Pohang Iron and Steel.




Executive Director, Strategy and Quality, and Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor (Engagement)
Dr Paul Rowland

Dr Paul RowlandDr Paul Rowland was appointed to the position of Executive Director, Strategy and Quality in March 2012, and took up Pro Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) responsibilities from May 2013.

Dr Rowland joined the Higher Education sector in 2000 after a lengthy career in the Australian Public Service (APS). Since joining the sector, Dr Rowland has held the following positions: Director, Griffith-QUT Collaboration Program (2001 to 2004); Director, Business and Service Improvement, QUT (2004 to 2007); and Director, Planning and Quality, UWS (2010 to 2011).

 



Executive Director, People and Culture
Ann Tout

Ann ToutAnn Tout is Executive Director, People and Culture at the University of Western Sydney, a position she was appointed to in August 2011. Prior to this, Ann’s association with UWS was as a consultant to the UWS Senior Executive, before stepping into the role of Acting Director, Human Resources, in August 2010.  She has more than 20 years’ experience in human resources and general management within the corporate, public and community sectors.
