Executive Director, People and Culture

Ann Tout is Executive Director, People and Culture at the University of Western Sydney, a position she was appointed to in August 2011. Prior to this, Ann’s association with UWS was as a consultant to the UWS Senior Executive, before stepping into the role of Acting Director, Human Resources, in August 2010.

Ann has more than 20 years’ experience in human resources and general management within the corporate, public and community sectors. She has worked in such diverse areas as energy and the environment, food and beverage, and banking. More recently, Ann has also worked extensively as a consultant providing executive coaching, mentoring and general organisational consulting; during this time, she expanded her focus to include the higher education sector.

Her BA in history and anthropology from the Australian National University reflects Ann’s keen interest in people and society, while her GDipAppSc in Psychology of Coaching (USyd) complements her professional experience in people management. Ann is particularly interested in issues around organisational and leadership culture, employee engagement, recognition and career progression and workforce planning.
