Job vacancy: Executive Officer (Bridges to Higher Education)

The Bridges team seek to appoint an Executive Officer to support the delivery of the Bridges initiative over the coming year.

The Executive Officer will be responsible for the provision of high level executive support to the Bridges initiative. This position will manage all aspects of the Bridges to Higher Education office, including liaising with senior stakeholders, co-ordinating the timely preparation of reports, papers and other documentation, and providing effective communication. The position will provide high level policy, planning and administrative support across all areas of the initiative’s activities.

We seek a highly organised individual with excellent communication skills, acute attention to detail, and particular experience in servicing senior committees and report writing.

Location: University of Western Sydney, Penrith Campus.

Duration: This is a full time, fixed term position for 12 months.

Remuneration Package: Higher Education Worker Level 8 $91,738 to $101,838 p.a. (comprising Salary $82,952 to $92,085 p.a., 9.25% Superannuation, and Leave Loading).

TVS Series Premier: Models of Achievement

The second television series produced by TVS for Bridges to Higher Education, Models of Achievement, will premier on Tuesday 11 June 2013, at 7:30 pm, Television Sydney (TVS) Digital 44.

Models of Achievement is a series of inspiring stories from determined Australians pursuing a career through higher education.

TVS Series Premier: Enquiring Minds

Enquiring Minds is an inspirational new series premiering on Television Sydney (TVS) Digital 44, 7.30 pm, on Tuesday, 26 March 2013.

The series aims to help children in primary school turn their passion into a career through higher education.

The 11-part Enquiring Minds series sees young students explain what their interests are – animals, robots, computer games – and links them with an academic in the field who explains how to turn that hobby into a career.

The series will feature a range of interesting topics that will awaken children’s curiosity and broaden their knowledge. Experts will welcome and share their experiences with the viewers as they embark on a little adventure in each episode. The series will also be complemented with curriculum linked teacher lesson plans and resources, an online game and a website that maps the path through university to reach all the exciting careers!

Partners Advisory Group Chair appointed

One of Australia’s leading advocates for youth and social change, Jan Owen AM is the new Chair of the Bridges to Higher Education Partners Advisory Group.

Jan Owen was welcomed by the Partners Advisory Group members and other senior stakeholders on Tuesday 26 February 2013 at a reception hosted by the University of Sydney.
