Our Work

Bridges to Higher Education incorporates proven projects of our partners as well as innovative new projects. We manage this range of activities through our projects.

Schools Engagement Project – the largest area of Bridges activities, covering the proven programs of each of the five Bridges universities as well as emerging collaborative opportunities

Parents Project – developing and delivering information about higher education aimed at parents from low socio economic communities, including a DVD and other resources in multiple languages

TVS Project – two TV documentary series produced by TVS community television and aimed at children from LSES communities, their families and school classes

UAC/Web Project – a website developed in partnership with the Universities Admissions Centre, which will fill critical information needs for students from LSES communities, their families and schools, and community workers

Indigenous Project – supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in their aspiration for and access to higher education, delivered in partnership with schools, non-government organisations, elders and other community leaders

Rural and Regional Project – making university more accessible and university life more understandable through visits, mentoring and support programs, for example

Pathways Project – partnering with TAFE institutes and colleges to improve non-school pathways to higher education

Classrooms Technology Project – using advanced technology such as electronic whiteboard and videoconferencing to take classes of students on virtual visits to university campuses and research facilities and put students and teachers in touch with university researchers and academics

Evaluation Project – development and implementation of an innovative, cross-sector framework to evaluate our own activities and for use across the education sector
