Health, Fitness and Social

Uniclinic (opens in a new window): The uniclinic is based on the Campbelltown UWS campus. It provides a range of therapeutic health services at reduced prices. The services are provided by students under the supervision of qualified practitioners. 

Connect Fitness (opens in a new window): Connect Fitness gyms are a world class facility based on Campbelltown, Penrith, Bankstown and Hawkesbury campuses. Connect Fitness gyms are fully equipped with State-of-the-Art cardiovascular and circuit training equipment plus so much more. They have a range of 12, 6 and 1 month memberships. Day passes are also available.

Sporting and leisure facilities: All UWS campuses have a range of sporting and leisure facilities, including

  • Tennis courts
  • Basketball courts
  • Football and soccer grounds
  • Outdoor gym equipment
  • Table tennis
  • Walking track
  • Chess courts

Student clubs and societies (opens in a new window): There is a vast range of student-led clubs and societies to join. The options include social, sporting, cultural, religious, political and course related. Clubs and societies are generally free to join however some may incur fees for competitive or representative events. 

“Good Choice”: healthier menu options are available on most campuses. There are weekly specials of $3, $4 or $5 options to choose from, including recipes from the UWS Community Cookbook. Uwsconnect also offer a weekly 

Free student breakfast (opens in a new window): start your day off with a free healthy breakfast every Wednesday 8.30am to 10am.

Support Services

Get Healthy @ UWS (opens in a new window): The Get Healthy Information and Coaching service is a free telephone- based NSW Government initiative. This service aims to assist the UWS community in achieving their health and wellbeing goals. This service allows UWS students, staff and alumni to access Get Healthy information and/ or receive personal health coaching.

International and non-English speaking student support (opens in a new window): If you are an international student or you have recently migrated UWS has a range of services to help with adjusting to a new country and culture, making friends, assistance with where to find help and many more tips.

Study and life skills workshops (opens in a new window): The Counselling service run regular free workshops to assist students with managing study and life stress by equipping them with various skills. Some of the workshops include: time management, master your memory, plus more. These workshops are available on various campuses and registration is required.

Free counselling services (opens in a new window): Private and confidential counselling services are available to all students free of charge. To make an appointment contact 9852 5199, email counselling@uws.edu.au or drop in.

Students can also access e-counselling.

Disability support (opens in a new window): The disability support service can assist with academic integration plans, educational support such as academic note-takers and readers. The disability support service can assist with alternative formats of textbooks and educational material. Contact the disability support services on 9852 5199 or email disability@uws.edu.au. 

Student welfare services (opens in a new window): The Student Welfare service at UWS has professionally trained staff to assist you with various problems, including textbook vouchers, food vouchers, financial assistance including centrelink support and tax help, accommodation issues, budgeting advice and more. You can email welfareservice@uws.edu.au or visit your nearest office.

Student kitchen facilities: Kitchenettes are accessible on campuses making it more convenient to bring their own food to uni. See below for the location of these facilities.

Mental Health and Wellbeing (opens in a new window): The Mental Health and Wellbeing (MHW) website provides a range of tools to help all UWS students and staff. 

Sustainability

UWS Community CookbookThe UWS community cookbook has a range of healthy, cheap and easy recipes. The UWS community cookbook includes a range of useful cooking tips and sustainable ideas. The cookbook is available from UWSconnect bookstores for approximately $7.00.

Free water refilling stations: Free filtered water refilling stations are available on all campuses. This is a cost effective way for students to consume their daily water intake and contribute to the reduction of water wastage. Shuttle buses (opens in a new window): The shuttle bus service is available free to all UWS students and staff.
