Get Healthy at UWS

Get Healthy Information and Coaching Service

The University recognises the importance of health and wellbeing. We support the efforts of staff and students wanting to make positive changes to their health and lifestyle, as well as those wanting to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Through a Memorandum of Understanding with Population Health, Nepean Blue Mountains and Western Sydney Local Health Districts, UWS is promoting the Get Healthy Information & Coaching Service® to staff and students for the second year. Some of our staff and students participated in the program last year, and are achieving good results.

The Get Healthy Information & Coaching Service® offers free information and/or health coaching to help you achieve your goals in relation to healthy eating, physical activity and adopting a healthy lifestyle. It is a free, confidential telephone-based coaching service, delivered by qualified health professionals.

You can choose to receive Get Healthy information and/or participate in the more comprehensive coaching program.

Free resources are available, including an information kit with a Get Healthy Service brochure and an information book on healthy eating, physical activity, and achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

If you choose to participate in the coaching service, you receive up to 10 free individually tailored telephone coaching sessions over six months, as well as a resource kit, access to online tracking tools and a copy of the Healthy Food Fast cookbook at the end of the program.

Areas that a health coach may be able to assist you in include developing health goals, creating action plans, maintaining motivation, identifying problem areas, and creating solutions for successful lifestyle change.
