What's on? 

NAIDOC Week

Penrith City Council invites everyone to come and enjoy the NAIDOC Gathering at Jamison Park. Besides touch football and netball, there will be singing, games and a free barbeque. Bring your kids since there are plenty of activities in store for them too, and childcare available for children aged under six. Registration for touch football and netball teams will be taken on the day.

Cooking Workshops 

Come along and enjoy a hands on cooking workshop making simple, delicious and nutritious meals. This month’s theme is “party foods”.

When: Saturday, 20th July 2013
Time: 11am - 1pm
Where: Hawkesbury Earthcare Centre, Hawkesbury Campus, corner Campus Drive and Science Rd, Richmond
Cost: $35 per person which includes a shared lunch

Sustainability Month 2013

This August, sustainability month is on again. This years theme is 'Think before you throw'. There will be a huge range of activities, giveaways and competitions to participate in on every campus for staff and students.

Sustainability Month Launch 

Sustainability Month will be launched on UWS Parramatta Campus on the 8th August by the UWS Vice Chancellor. Other activities/offerings on the day will include:

  • Sustainability Information stall from Parramatta City Council
  • Greening UWS Product display
  • Free Corn on The Cob BBQ
  • Free give aways to staff and students
  • Competitions
  • Free fruit and seedlings give aways
  • Free coffee workshops
  • Greening Australia display
  • Launch of new Karma Kups
  • Live Music
  • Information stalls
  • Native animal information session with live species
  • Highlight and information on recycling points that will be on all campuses during August
  • Display of UWS Solar car from the student Group Solar Car Club
  • Sustainability Pledge Tree

The event will commence at 10:30am and run through until 2pm outside the Boiler House.


Recycled Fashion Workshops

Come along and see how easy it is to eat healthy, shop smart and save money. The Office of Sustainability and Henry Doubleday are holding a free workshop for staff, students and the community to help you save yourself time, money and the environment. The workshop will include a free food, giveaways, cooking demo and composting tips.

Love Fashion Hate Waste Workshops

The Office of Sustainability will be holding a series of workshops that will assist you in making these changes and helping to reduce the amount of clothing that goes to landfill. Come along and learn how to turn your unwanted or out-of-date fashion into a new creation.
