Sustainability Pledge
The Office of Sustainability along with 2 PhD students will be hold a Sustainability Pledge during Autumn Semester. Make your pledge by using our quick online Sustainability Pledge form before the end of June.
Reinvented Fashion
Come along learn how easy it is to turn your unwanted and out-of-date t-shirts into a new creation, with no sewing experience needed. This short, hands on, interactive workshop help you have fun with op shopping and provide you with tips on how to recreate your wardrobe.
Where: Werrington North, Building AD, Meeting Room 4 (downstairs)

All you need to bring with you:
- a few old t-shirts
- a pair of scissors
- 1.5mtrs of elastic, if you want to have a go at the dress
Cooking Workshops
Come along and enjoy a hands on cooking workshop making simple, delicious and nutritious meals. This month’s theme is “party foods”.
Love Food Hate Waste Workshops
Come along and see how easy it is to eat healthy, shop smart and save money. The Office of Sustainability and Henry Doubleday are holding a free workshop for staff, students and the community to help you save yourself time, money and the environment. The workshop will include a free food, giveaways, cooking demo and composting tips.
Our next workshop will be held at Bankstown Campus - 14th May at 12pm in Building 1, Room 1.117 and 15th May at 6pm in Building 1, Room 1.119. RSVP to Helen on h.angelakis@uws.edu.au as spots are limited.
Love Fashion Hate Waste Workshops
The Office of Sustainability will be holding a series of workshops that will assist you in making these changes and helping to reduce the amount of clothing that goes to landfill. Come along and learn how to turn your unwanted or out-of-date fashion into a new creation.
Our next workshop will held at Bankstown Campus - 16th May at 5pm in Building 1, Room 1.114. Bring along 1.5 metres of elastic, sharp scissors and a few oversized t-shirts. RSVP to Helen on h.angelakis@uws.edu.au as spots are limited.
No sewing experience necessary.
Vegeterian Cooking Workshops
When: Saturday, 18th May 2013
Time: 11am - 1pm
Where: Hawkesbury Earthcare Centre, Hawkesbury Campus, corner Campus Drive and Science Rd, Richmond
Cost: FREE to UWS students and staff (limit of 8 spots) - a saving of $35

Workshops are held as part of the Love Food Hate Waste program by the Henry Doubleday Research Association.
Autumn Harvest
The Autumn Harvest event is a family fun day with local music, entertainment, stalls, garden & building tours,displays, art, healthy food, plants and produce. The fair is held at UWS Hawkesbury, Richmond, at the Secret Garden and Nursery, Hawkesbury Earthcare Centre and the Piggery HCAW Studio.

Cost: gold coin donation upon entry
Parking: P14 in marked parking spots only

Penrith City Council is offering a series of free exciting workshops for the local Penrith community. Workshop topics include:
- Composting and worm farming on Saturday 11 May, 2pm to 4pm at Mamre House
- Vintage and Pre-Loved Fashion on Thursday 16 May, 6.30pm to 8pm at Penrith Council Civic Centre
- Veggie Gardening in a Box on Saturday 25 May, 10am to 12pm at Mamre House
- Saving Energy at Home on Saturday 1 June, 9.30am to 11.30am at Glenmore Park Community Centre
- Native Gardening on Sunday 2 June, 10am to 12pm at Mamre House
- Menu Planning on Thursday 20 June, 6.30pm to 8pm at Penrith Council Civic Centre

Our Place Community Forum
Our Place community forum is open to residents from Parramatta local government areas to find out what places matter to you and how we can help you to care for them. This forum is organised by the University of Western Sydney to give local residents the opportunity to network, share resources, learn more about local services, identify local priority issues and learn new skills.

Nature through different eyes
The exhibition of photography celebrates the wonders in nature. Come along and see the display from the 8th March until the 10th May.
The 60 framed images will hang on the walls of the main corridor that runs through from the North to the South Block at Nepean Hospital. Please see the map of the Nepean Hospital (opens in a new window) - red arrow "Delivery here" this is the entrance to the North Block, entry to the car park off Somerset Street Kingswood.

Social Ecology Symposium
We invite you to join with us to help us reaffirm and redefine the Social Ecology Symposium project to play a leading role in promoting a sustainable society and responding to challenges ahead.
In its 30 year history at the University of Western Sydney Social Ecology has established a unique position in the Australian educational landscape as a radical transdisciplinary program that applies ecological perspectives to promote social action for a sustainable world.

Special Guest: Stephen Kellert, Tweedy Ordway Professor Emeritus of Social Ecology at Yale University

Curries and more Workshops
Come along to our Loa Meat Free Cooking Working at the Earthcare Centre on Hawkesbury Campus. The workshop includes a garden tour, hands on and fun meal making, tips and a healing plants discussion over lunch.
