Associate Professor Robyn McGuigganAssociate Professor Robyn McGuiggan has a wealth of academic and industry experience. Prior to becoming Executive Dean, Robyn was the College's Acting Associate Dean (Academic) since late 2004, Acting Head of the Graduate School since October 2005 and before this time was responsible for academic programs and quality in the Sydney Graduate School of Management.

Prior to joining the college, Robyn was Director of the Academic Programs and Quality for the Sydney Graduate School of Management, where she was responsible for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) both in Sydney and overseas. Prior to joining UWS, Robyn was a senior lecturer in the School of Marketing at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) and Head of the Marketing Department at Insearch, UTS.

Teaching

Associate Professor McGuiggan has taught marketing for more than 16 years. Her teaching experience ranges from first-year undergraduate introductory marketing courses to a variety of marketing subjects in postgraduate MBA and Masters in Marketing programs. Her experience is not confined to Australia, having lectured in Singapore, Malaysia, China and Thailand. She has also taught a number of management executive programs in marketing for organisations such as the State Rail Authority of NSW and IBM.

Industry

Before becoming an academic, she spent a number of years working in the pharmaceutical industry for multinational companies such as Bayer and Fisons. During this time Associate Professor McGuiggan gained extensive experience in research, sales, and marketing. She also has experience in small retail marketing having jointly owned a thriving hardware retail store for 12 years.

Research

Her particular research interests are in the area of consumer choice of leisure and tourism products. Not only has she published extensively in this area, she has also published numerous marketing case studies and co-authored an Australasian introductory marketing textbook.
