The Observatory has an outreach program for visits by school groups on selected evenings.

We currently run programs suitable for primary school students as well as Year 10, 11 and 12 physics students. The talks are held at the school by invitation.

Aboriginal Scientific Literacy Program

The Observatory runs a special scientific literacy program for Aboriginal students from Metropolitan Sydney and country NSW. The program consists of Aboriginal astronomy, engineering physics laboratory sessions and investigating the night sky from a modern and Aboriginal perspective.

Public Astronomy NightsCampbelltown Domes at Night

Public Astronomy Nights are held with the Macarthur Astronomical Society. Both the Observatory's and the Society's telescopes are used to explore the night sky.

Unless otherwise stated, these nights are free of charge and no booking is required. The program is advertised in the local press.

Engineering Frontiers

Engineering Frontiers organised by the Engineering group in the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics, and Engineers Australia is a two day program of engineering activities including talks on the latest developments in science and engineering for talented high school students. The aim of the program is to encourage young girls and boys to take up careers in engineering.

NASA Space Camp

The Observatory and Dr Ragbir Bhathal conduct lectures for upper secondary school students who participate in the NASA Space Camp in the US. The program is coordinated by Dr Ken Silburn from the Metropolitan South West Science Teachers Association.
