New Emergency Contact Points

UWS is committed to providing a safe environment in which to work and study. Work has been completed on the installation of emergency contact points on each campus, along with an upgrade to the University’s Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems.

The emergency contact points provide a 24-hour direct link to a Campus Safety and Security Officer in an emergency and have been strategically located on each campus to increase the safety of students, staff and visitors. Below are maps for each campus detailing their locations:

When an emergency contact point is activated, the nearest security officer is immediately deployed, while the person who raised the alarm speaks directly with security staff in the control room in full view of CCTV.

A back-up system has been implemented to ensure the emergency contact points provide an uninterrupted link to Campus Safety and Security staff.

The University’s CCTV network is a critical component of the overall security program. All video surveillance on UWS campuses is conducted in accordance with the University’s Workplace Surveillance Policy (opens in a new window) and the Workplace Surveillance Act 2005 (opens in a new window).
