The way you get to campus affects the environment and the quality and safety of campus life. We are committed to providing access to each UWS campus that is easy, safe, environmentally friendly, affordable and helps decongest traffic and parking in and around campus.

Why does how I get to uni matter?

How you get to uni can have a big impact on you and those around you.

Driving to uni is very expensive when you consider the cost of petrol and parking. It can also be very frustrating with the ever-increasing challenge of finding a car spot on campus. Emissions from cars are detrimental to the environment and can cause serious health problems.

What is active transport?

Active travel is walking, cycling or using public transport. It saves you money and gives you an opportunity to use your travel time for catching up on your reading, work or even catching up with a friend.

What active transport is available to get to uni?

Making sure each student, staff member and visitor has a range of active transport options for accessing all UWS campuses is important. We’re always working to increase the options for the benefit of you, campus life, the community and environment.

The different options already available are listed below.

Transport Access Guides

Transport Access Guides (TAGs) are available for every UWS campus. TAGs have comprehensive information on all the active transport options for the campus, including a detailed campus map with transport indicators such as train stations, bus stops and walking paths and times.

Campus shuttles

Shuttle bus services are provided for free on the Bankstown, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Parramatta and Penrith campuses. The shuttle buses provide short trips to the nearest train station or around campus, where bus services are infrequent or do not exist.

Car pooling

If you have to drive to campus, car pooling is the way to go – it’s a great way to reduce your costs and contribute to improving the environment. Have a chat to your class mates or colleagues to find out who you can car pool with. You might not be able to share a ride everyday of the week, but even one day each week makes a difference.

Cycling @ UWS

Cycling is a quick, healthy and cheap way to get to campus. Take a look at a few of the many reasons you should think about cycling as your active transport option:

great stress release and producer of serotonin, which promotes relaxation.
