Parramatta

Location

The Parramatta campus is situated in the suburb of Rydalmere in the Parramatta Local Government Area. The campus consists of two sites; Parramatta South (main campus) and Parramatta North.

Both campuses are located on the corner of Victoria Road and James Ruse Drive. Entrance to Parramatta South is via Victoria Road. Entrance to Parramatta North is via Pemberton Street.

Getting Here and Getting Home

The Parramatta campus is well serviced by public transport.

Bus

Sydney Bus 521, 523, 524 and 525 stop outside the campus on the corner of Victoria Road and Rippon Avenue. Sydney buses operate from the Parramatta Station Interchange at Stand A2. Please refer to the Sydney Buses website (opens in a new window) to download a timetable or contact the Transport Information Hotline on 131 500.

Train

The closest station to the campus is Rydalmere, serviced by the Carlingford line. The station is within walking distance to the campus but services times are limited at this station. It is recommended catching the train to Parramatta station where bus services to the campus are available. Please refer to the CityRail website (opens in a new window) for timetable and fare information.

Walking and Cycling

The walk from Rydalmere station to the campus is approximately 750 metres and will take about 5-10 minutes. Please refer to the Parramatta TAG (PDF, 895Kb) for directions.

The campus is a 20-30 walk from Parramatta Transport Interchange. Walk Parramatta Map (opens in a new window) provides local walking routes to campus and local attractions.

The Westmead and Parramatta by bike map (opens in a new window) provides several options for cycling to the Parramatta campus. Routes include on-road and shared cycling paths.

Ferry

The Parramatta Rivercat operates between Circular Quay and Parramatta. The closest stop to the Parramatta campus is Rydalmere Wharf on John Street. For more information, please see Parramatta River Ferry timetable (opens in a new window).

From here the campus is a short bus trip via Sydney Buses with the closest bus stop on the corner of John and South streets. As bus services at this stop are limited, please contact the Transport Information Hotline on 131 500 or visit the 131500 Transport Infoline website (opens in a new window) for timetable information.

Please be aware that at times replacement buses will operate between Parramatta Wharf and Rydalmere Wharf due to natural low tides in the shallow waters of upper Parramatta River.

Car

The Parramatta campus is accessible using Victoria Road. Please refer to UWS Interactive Maps for directions and travel times. Please be aware that parking on this campus is limited and parking permits and parking fees apply. In peak periods please try the car park at Parramatta North campus first.

Taxi

Cumberland Cabs (Premier Taxis) operate in the Parramatta area. Please contact Cumberland Cabs on 13 10 17 to book a cab. The Taxi waiting point is outside the Building EBa.

Safe Travel

If catching public transport, please be aware not all train stations are attended by station staff. UWS recommends contacting CityRail (opens in a new window) for further information.

UWS Shuttle Bus

The Parramatta campus shuttle bus operates between the North and South campuses. The buses depart from each campus every 15 minutes, with the first bus run at 8.00 am and the last pickup at 9.45 pm. The shuttle bus is a free service for UWS students and staff.
