UWS Early Learning Hawkesbury Child Care Centre
About Us
UWS Early Learning Hawkesbury is a not-for-profit organisation that provides long day care for UWS staff, students and the local community, and is located within the university grounds. We are a licensed and accredited 52 place service. The service is divided into three age groups and situated within two buildings, the main building and the baby cottage.
UWS Early Learning Hawkesbury adheres to the National Quality Framework & Education and Care Services National Regulations in providing a high quality care and safe environment for all families who attend our service. Our curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework in delivering a holistic and integrated programme, and learning environment for our children which reflects the EYLF learning outcomes.

Centre Philosophy
- We believe that every child should have an opportunity to reach their full potential and have access to high quality care and a rich learning environment. That every child’s aspect of being, becoming and belonging within the Early Years Learning Framework is recognised and accepted.
- We value the importance of play in children’s learning and development. Play is a vital tool in how children make sense of their world, therefore developing a sense of belonging. Children learn and develop at their own pace and have individual developmental needs which are influenced by their family, culture and social settings.

School Readiness and Learning Environment
- We create a warm, rich, safe, well-resourced and supported learning environment which facilitates as a third teacher and allows children to freely explore, engage, interact and scaffold children’s learning. Learning environments are arranged in areas that are aesthetically pleasing and welcoming.
- We believe that children are capable individuals and learn best when experiences and learning outcomes are based on their interests, curiosity and family life experiences that are shared within the centre. Children’s ideas, thoughts and inputs are reflected in the curriculum.
School Readiness program is embedded within the preschool room programme and is planned to support children’s transition into primary schooling and allows access for all preschool age children. School readiness program consists of and includes building of self-confidence, Social skills, life skills and literacy and numeracy skills. Visits to local school is also part of the programme. The PALS program (Play and Learning to Socialise) (opens in a new window) is an integral part of our school readiness program.
