Early Childhood Care and Education is governed by joint National and State law and regulations.
The National Quality Framework (opens in a new window) is a national approach to the regulation and quality assessment of education and care services. The Framework aims to promote:
- the safety, health and wellbeing of children
- a focus on achieving outcomes for children through high-quality educational programs
- families’ understanding of what distinguishes a quality service
The NSW Department of Education and Communities (opens in a new window) regulates the operation of early childhood education and care services for children from birth through to and including school age.
