All-campus initiatives

Current CW&F projects across all UWS campuses

New lockers for students

New electronic ‘smart’ lockers will be installed across the six UWS campuses prior to the commencement of Semester 2, 2013. The lockers will be located in convenient, accessible spaces and will be available for students to use free of charge. Lockers will be temporarily assigned to students on request for periods of up to 24 hours. Students will be able to use their UWS student card for swipe access to the locker they have been assigned.

The installation of the lockers has been funded by the students of UWS via the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) and they will be managed on each campus by Campus Safety and Security.

Scheduled completion date: 26 July 2013

Signage upgrades

New signageNew campus identity signs have been installed on the Bankstown campus and Hawkesbury campus, with a new sign soon to be installed at the entrance to the Parramatta south campus. These signs have been designed to raise the profile of the University and highlight the entrance to our campuses. The consistent styling of the signs visually unite the campuses, whilst also paying tribute to the unique architecture of each campus.

The way-finding and directional signs (for pedestrians and vehicle drivers), campus maps, parking signs and building frontage signs are regularly reviewed and upgraded across each of the UWS campuses and sites on an ongoing basis.

CW&F’s signage portfolio also includes environmental graphics as part of our architectural solutions. Ranging from poster-size archival photography to 2 storey high building facade graphic panels, all solutions are carefully designed to be integrated into the architectural fabric.

Furniture upgrades and social learning spaces in common areas

Furniture upgrades in common areasWe are currently installing student friendly furniture outside a number of lecture theatres and teaching spaces that either have out-dated, dysfunctional furniture or no furniture at all. Social learning spaces are also being created in common areas (i.e. foyers and corridors) on various campuses as part of the Blended Learning initiative, which aims provide comfortable, collaborative learning spaces complete with power outlets, wireless Internet, audio visual technology and writing surfaces. Foyers and corridors that were once wasted space now offer students the ability to lounge in comfort, access the Internet and collaborate with fellow students.
