Current CW&F projects on Campbelltown campus
Refurbishment of the existing office accommodation in building 17 and provision of advanced simulation space
Two small flat-floor teaching spaces are being refurbished into a 50-student advanced simulation space computer laboratory complete with specialised advanced simulation software for modelling chemical and physiological systems. This software will allow images to be projected from a microscope onto a projection screen or computer monitor in real time.
The School of Science and Health office accommodation in building 17 is also being upgraded as part of this project and an existing PC2 lab is being reconfigured and upgraded for current certification.
The construction works for this project commenced in early April and will continue through to mid-July 2013.
Access restrictions: The construction areas in building 17 will be offline and inaccessible while the upgrade works are being carried out. The School of Science and Health staff who occupy the office accommodation in building 17 have been temporarily relocated into building 24 and an adjacent demountable while the upgrade works are completed. The School of Nursing and Midwifery staff based on level 1 of building 17 have also been temporarily relocated into building 22 while the construction works are underway.
Scheduled completion date: 19 July 2013
New three-storey addition to building 24
To meet future teaching requirements and additional student load, a new three-storey anatomy facility is being designed for the School of Science and Health and the School of Medicine on the Campbelltown campus. The new facility will have shared ‘back-of –house’ functions, such as refrigerated cadaver storage, embalming and dissection areas for the University’s Body Donor Program, as well as teaching laboratories, thus serving the distinct needs of both Schools.
This new facility will replace the single-storey section of building 24 that is currently occupied by the Uniclinic, linking the flanking multi-storey sections—the original 4-storey northern section completed in 1996 and the 3-storey southern ‘Allied Health Extension’ completed in 2011.
The development application for this project was lodged with the Campbelltown City Council in early April 2013. The tender documentation is progressing with the view of going to tender in early July. The construction works are scheduled to commence in August 2013.
Scheduled completion date: 19 August 2014
