Refurbishment of Charles Hoskins Memorial building at Lithgow for UWSCollege

A UWSCollege facility is being developed at Lithgow to provide the local community with pathways to tertiary education. The existing two-storey 1920’s Charles Hoskins Memorial building on the corner of Bridge and Mort Streets, Lithgow, is being refurbished to provide flat-floor teaching spaces, collaborative learning classrooms, a wet lab, a dry lab and a lecture theatre for UWSCollege. A lift will also be installed to improve accessibility to the building.
The replacement of the roof tiles is complete. The construction of the lift shaft and the courtyard area is well advanced and the internal fit-out works are progressing according to schedule, with painting underway.
The structural component of the new substation is complete, with the upgraded power supply expected to be connected to the building in mid-August 2013.
The project is a joint venture between UWS and the Lithgow City Council. The works are co-funded by UWS and the Federal Government’s Structural Adjustment Fund/Educational Investment Fund.
Scheduled completion date: 30 November 2013
