Current CW&F projects on Penrith campus
Landscaping and civil works between buildings C, I and F

This project is a follow-on from the landcaping and civil works completed between buildings C, D, I, K and L on Penrith campus, Kingswood, earlier this year. The external area between buildings C, I and F will be upgraded to improve the drainage, pedestrian thoroughfares and visual appeal of that area of the campus. Soft landscaping, paved pedestrian access paths, seating and external lighting will be provided. Civil works will also be undertaken to improve drainage in the area.
This project is on track for delivery in late August 2013.
Access restrictions: The thoroughfare between buildings C, I, and F will be blocked off and inaccessible while the works are in progress. Signage will be provided to direct pedestrian traffic around the work area. Please follow the directional signage provided.

Building Z upgrade works for the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics and the Institute of Infrastructure Engineering

Building Z will be upgraded to provide the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics with a collaborative learning computer lab space and computer projects/research labs. In addition, the Institute of Infrastructure Engineering will be provided with a meeting room, additional office accommodation and glass partitions/carpeting to some circulation spaces.
The internal fit-out works are currently underway. The glazed partitions have been installed and the ceiling framing is currently been installed in the IT laboratory areas. The project is on track for delivery in mid-September 2013.
Access restrictions: Some areas of building Z will be offline and inaccessible while the upgrade works are in progress.

Construction of a new teaching building for UWSCollege

A new five-star Greenstar rated, single-storey building is being designed for UWSCollege on the Penrith campus, Kingswood to provide Western Sydney students with greater study options. The new building will be located adjacent to building XB and will provide 1250m2 of flat-floor teaching space and student amenities for UWSCollege.
This project is currently in the design documentation phase. It is co-funded by UWS and the Federal Government’s Structural Adjustment Fund/Educational Investment Fund.
Access restrictions: The construction area will remain offline and inaccessible while the construction works are underway.
Scheduled completion date: 27 February 2015
Development of a new library
A new, state-of-the-art library is being designed for the Penrith campus, Kingswood. The new six-storey purpose-built building will be constructed along the main campus walk, adjacent to buildings V, P and U. It will consolidate the teaching facilities on the campus and provide students with a new, central resource centre that will provide a balance between traditional hardcopy resource materials and contemporary, electronic, interactive learning.
The tender for this project has been awarded and the construction works are scheduled to commence on-site in August 2013.
Scheduled completion date: Autumn 2015
Development of Werrington Park Corporate Centre

A new three-storey, five-star Greenstar rated building is being designed for the Penrith campus, Werrington south, as stage one of the Werrington Park Corporate Centre. The new building will be located in the north-eastern corner of the campus, fronting the Great Western Highway and will offer commercial/research accommodation with associated amenities and on-site parking. The intent is to strengthen the ties between UWS and industry, attract new industries to the area and facilitate the establishment and growth of those industries.
A large stormwater detention basin will be constructed adjacent to the new building for irrigating landscaping and managing stormwater.
This project is currently out to tender. The construction works are expected to commence in November 2013.
The project is a joint venture between UWS and the Penrith City Council. The works will be co-funded by UWS and the Federal Government’s Suburban Job’s Program. A sod turning ceremony was held at the site on Tuesday 23 July 2013, where the federal Environment Minister, Mark Butler, and Lindsay Labor MP, David Bradbury, turned the first sod.
