Logistics service guide
This guide has been developed to outline the services provided by Capital Works and Facilities’ (CW&F) Logistics team and how UWS staff can access those services. A PDF version of this Guide (opens in a new window) can be downloaded and printed for future reference.
Mail drop-offs/pick-ups
All the University’s incoming and outgoing mail, and inter-campus library loans and transfers, are sorted by CW&F’s Logistics team in the Logistics building on Penrith campus, Kingswood, before being delivered to the drop-off/pick-up points on each UWS campus every business day. Mail is collected from the drop-off/pick-up points at the same time. All outgoing mail (external to UWS) is recorded in a database and charged against the relevant cost centres before being picked up from the Logistics building by Australia Post.
Standard or large envelopes To post a standard or large envelope (internal, domestic and international), place the envelope in your building’s Logistics mail bag (usually kept in the reception area of your building).
Bulk mail-outs
To post large mail-outs (i.e. 500 letters or more):
- email logistics@uws.edu.au and request a mail tub
- Group envelopes of the same size into bundles (i.e. of 25 envelopes), separating domestic mail from international mail, and secure with a rubber band
- Place the bundles into the mail tub and leave the tub at the mail collection point for your building with your building’s Logistics mail bag.
Parcels
When posting parcels, boxes and other large items that wont fit inside your building’s Logistics mail bag, email logistics@uws.edu.au and the Logistics team will either collect your parcel/box/item during the next mail delivery/pickup run or an internal courier will contact you to arrange collection. Note: Please ensure all staples are covered by tape.
Registered mail
To send mail via registered post, purchase a registered post small pre-paid envelope or registered post prepaid label from Australia Post, and place the registered mail in your building’s Logistics mail bag.
Express post
To express post an item, purchase an express post envelope/bag from Australia Post and place your item in an express post gold posting box or in your building’s Logistics mail bag. Note: your express post item will only be posted that same day if you place the item in the Logistics mail bag before it is collected that day.
International post
All International parcels and some international letters require customs forms. Refer to the Australia Post website (opens in a new window) to find out which form your parcel/letter requires. Customs forms are available form the Logistics team and Australia Post outlets.
Once you have completed the correct customs form, place your international post parcel/letter in the Logistics mail bag, or, if the parcel is large, place it at the mail collection point for your building.
Reply paid envelopes
Standard UWS envelopes can’t be used as reply paid envelopes—they can only be used for mail sent via the Logistics team. If you need to include reply-paid envelopes in your mail-outs (i.e. to have surveys posted back to you), you will need to order the reply-paid envelopes via the Print Services website (opens in a new window):
