Dr Kevin Watson

Dr Watson’s research interests include:

  • intercultural understanding
  • science education and curriculum development
  • the sociology of learning.

Dr Kevin Watson has expertise in intercultural understanding, not just in terms of different ethnic groups but different community groups that follow diverse cultural practices. He is also interested in the area of science education and curriculum development, particularly in terms of trying to engage students with science from a ‘their world’ perspective. He currently has an emerging interest in the sociology of learning, which is developing further.

Dr Watson’s research practice has often centred on getting students to engage with science within the actual school context. He has also been attempting to create links across the globe; as evidenced in his Education for the Future project, which looks at what teachers want from a number of different perspectives and then helps them use the great ideas of others.

Qualifications
