Grant Success

Janette Perz and Jane Ussher have been successful in their application for an ARC Linkage grant. This project will examine the sexual health beliefs and practices of women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, who are recent migrants to Australia and Canada.

The project has received funding of $271,144 over 4 years, commencing in 2013 from ARC and $129,000 from partners.

Grant Successes

Jane Ussher and Janette Perz have been successful in their application to the Prostate Cancer  Foundation of Australia.  The project which will examine gay mens's experiences of prostate cancer, has received funding of $288,450 over 2 years, commencing in 2013.

Emilee Gilbert, Jane Ussher and Janette Perz have been successful in their application for an ARC Discovery grant for the project on young women and smoking.  The project has received funding of $171,663 over 3 years, commencing in 2013.

Federico Girosi  has been successful in his application for an NHMRC Project Grant: "Randomised controlled trial of antimicrobial treatment versus watchful waiting for acute otitis media without perforation in low risk Aboriginal children".  The project, led by Professor Jenny Reath from the UWS School of Medicine,  has received funding of more than $1.6m over 4 years, commencing in 2013

A Tall Poppy in our midst - A/Prof Hilary Bambrick:

Hillary Bambrick

Associate Professor Hilary Bambrick has been named as one of the 2011 NSW Young Tall Poppy Science Award winners.

Hilary's work is focused on the direct consequences of climate change on the community's health especially vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly and those from Indigenous communities.

 Hilary is the 4th Tall Poppy from the University of Western Sydney. 


Deborah Randall

 

 

PhD Student, Deborah Randall, was judged "Best in Session" during the recent School of Science and Health HDR Showcase (2012). 

 

 


 

PhD Student, Shima Ghassem Pour, presented a paper titled "Constructing a Synthetic Longitudinal Health Dataset for Data Mining" at the DBKA 2012 Conference and was awarded Best Paper.
