Prof Steve Barley

In July CInIS hosted a visit by Prof Steve Barley, Professor of Management Science and Engineering and Co-Director of the Centre for Work, Technology and Organisation at Stanford University’s (US) School of Engineering.

Prof Barley chatted informally with CInIS and School of Management staff and students to discuss topics of mutual interest and potential research collaborations.

Visiting Internship Students

CInIS recently hosted two business Internship students from The Netherlands, who worked with CInIS staff and industry partners to complete projects that contributed to the final stage on their undergraduate degrees with HAN University.

Emile Visser’s project involved helping a local company with the launch of a new product; a weed based liquid fertiliser, onto the Australian market. His goal was to assess the market needs regarding this product, write a marketing annex business plan and finally an implementation plan.

Niels Lebbink worked on the development of a virtual environment for SME’s from a marketing point of view. This environment was to make it possible for SME’s to innovate through collaboration with other SME’s and/ or universities. Niels wrote a marketing related plan for the further development based on the Australian market.
Both Emile and Niels have now returned to The Netherlands and are intending to undertake further study in their related areas.
