Need an Intern or Grad?

Students and recent graduates are available from all disciplines to complete short and long term paid work placements with your organisation.

Our placement service is an economical way to resource a project, meet a short-term staffing need or trial a student/recent graduate for on-going employment.

Choose from our popular range of placement programs, or tailor a program to suit your requirements:

Internships

UWS Careers & Cooperative Education connects employers to talented and motivated UWS students. For less than you think, you can employ a high achieving UWS student or graduate from a wide range of disciplines. Benefits to you:

  • Meet short term staffing needs
  • Flexible – full-time and part-time options available
  • Hassle free – we look after payroll, insurance, workers compensation and superannuation
  • Save time – we handle advertising and recruitment and have a quick turnaround time
  • Try before you buy – discuss options to retain student/intern for ongoing work
  • Choose a standard placement or a customised placement to suit your needs
  • Quality assurance – all placements are monitored and students complete a workplace induction session at UWS
  • Students work individually or as part of a team.

Employers can resource a position or trial a penultimate/final year student or recent graduate for on-going employment with a UWS internship. Interns can work on a specific project, undertake research or complete on-going work with your organisation. Standard internships start from 150 hours and can be completed full or part time.

Interns are selected on the basis of:

  • ability to meet essential and desirable criteria
  • merit of the application submitted
  • academic performance
  • enthusiasm and willingness.

International Internships

UWS also offers Australian undergraduate students the opportunity to work overseas for five weeks during the summer vacation (Dec – Feb).

If your organisation has branches overseas, and can provide a valuable international work experience opportunity for a UWS student, please contact Careers & Cooperative Education Manager, Ms Freny Tayebjee.

There is no charge to the host organisation for participating in this program.

Testimonial:

“The UWS internship program has proven an invaluable and mutually beneficial partnership to the Major Events Unit. Many of the students have been offered jobs within Council as a result of their internship. Not only do students lend a helping hand in the day to day business but they also contribute new and fresh ideas.”

Vivien Accardo, Major Events & Marketing Officer, Parramatta City Council
