Engagement Projects
UWS Engagement strives to exchange knowledge, harness community expertise and energy for mutual benefit, and to establish strategic alliances that contribute to Greater Western Sydney’s development, prosperity and social capital.
The UWS Engagement Unit works collaboratively with the other Units, UWS Colleges and Schools to achieve engagement goals prescribed within the University’s strategic plan.
Current Projects
Youth Eco-Summit:
The University of Western Sydney is a key partner in the 2012 Youth Eco-Summit at Sydney Olympic Park. YES is a unique, curriculum-based sustainability event held at Newington Armory, Sydney Olympic Park. Our comprehensive hands-on workshop program effectively links students and teachers with a huge range of sustainability resources and experts from industry, government, community agencies and academia.

UWS contributes to this event by providing resources including hosting the event ticketing system, planning the event and conducting workshops and sessions by academics and key personnel working in the areas of sustainability and education.

UWS Engagement is responsible for:
Developing sustainable partnerships with local organisations, residents, government, industry and business through a diverse range of outreach programs and research projects enabling collaboration and broad community engagement with the University of Western Sydney to attain prescribed learning, teaching and research outcomes.
The UWS Engagement team regularly attends local community networks and forums and receives visits from students and academics from Australia and overseas. We work collectively with individuals and groups internally and externally and provide opportunities for students to work as volunteers, interns or gain work place experience with our community partners. Often we work collaboratively with internal and external partners on projects and programs which have attracted funding.
