International Women’s Day (IWD) (opens in a new window) is celebrated every year around the world on 8 March and is a very special event on the UWS Calendar.

UWS holds two annual events to mark IWD, including the Women of the West Awards.

On Friday 8 March 2013 there was:

  • a Staff Breakfast at the Boilerhouse Restaurant on Parramatta Campus hosted by the Vice Chancellor. Guest Speaker Barrister Jane Seymour spoke about the impacts of the new Workplace Gender Equality Act and proposed changes to Anti Discrimination legislation. 
  • the 2013 UWS Women of the West and Young Women of the West Awards hosted by the Vice Chancellor. Guest Speaker was acclaimed theatre director and writer Ros Horin.
