The Award Criteria
Each year members of the Greater Western Sydney (GWS) community are invited to nominate women who:
- live and/or work in Greater Western Sydney
- demonstrate leadership in their field
- contribute to improving the lives of people in Greater Western Sydney.
There are two categories, the Young Women of the West Award and the Women of the West Award.
To qualify for the Young Women of the West Award, the nominee must be aged 18 - 28 years. The above criteria applies for both categories.
Staff or contractors currently employed by the University are not eligible to enter. UWS students can be nominated, however their contributions to GWS must include service outside the University, and within the region.
Women holding senior State or Federal Government roles are ineligible to be nominated.
Nominees are not eligible for resubmission for a period of three years.
For the purpose of this Award, GWS is taken to include the following 14 local government areas:
- Auburn
- Bankstown
- Baulkham Hills
- Blacktown
- Blue Mountains
- Camden
- Campbelltown
- Fairfield
- Hawkesbury
- Holroyd
- Liverpool
- Parramatta
- Penrith
- Wollondilly
