2006 Sculpture Award

UWS Acquisitive Sculpture Award and Exhibition 2006

Sculptors around Australia were invited in January 2006 to submit work for inclusion in the second UWS Acquisitive Sculpture Award and Exhibition to be held on the Campbelltown campus from 6 October - 22 October 2006.

The exhibition was launched on Friday 6 October, by Jennifer Bott, CEO of the Australia Council.

The exhibition consisted of major works by significant Australian artists who had created sculptures especially for the site, a picturesque lakeside setting.

The exhibition was open to the public from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm on weekdays and 10.00 am to 4.00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

The exhibiting artists were:

• Michael Garth
• Ron Gomboc
• Clara Hali
• Christopher Hodges
• Nancy Hunt
• Akira Kamada
• Orest Keywan
• Anita Larkin
• Denese Oates
• Joseph Paonessa and Sony Lim
• Sallie Portnoy, Philip Spark
• Charlie Trivers
• Vince Vozzo
• Jacek Wankowski.

The above finalists were eligible to win one of two awards, one for the UWS acquisitive prize and one for the Landcom acquisitive prize.

Special Event

Saturday 14 October
11.00 am - 12.00 pm: Sioux Garside will give a guided walking tour of the exhibition.
12.00 pm to 2.00pm: Various artists will be on site to discuss their work.

These lectures are free.

To book into the walking tour or for further details, please contact Monica McMahon.

Daily
Throughout the exhibition period the general public are encouraged to take themselves on a self-guided tour of the exhibition in the grounds of Campbelltown campus.

However, between 12 pm - 2 pm daily there will be staff available to take groups on tours of the exhibition.
