CompleTe Birth Study - Complementary Therapies for Labour and Birth

Are you pregnant with your first baby?
Ever thought of using complementary therapies to support your labour and birth?

Researchers at the University of Western Sydney, Centre for Complementary Medicine Research are looking for volunteers to participate in a new clinical study looking at the effectiveness of Complementary Therapies in an antenatal education program to support labour and birth.

Complementary Therapies and techniques may provide useful support for your labour and birth. Over 30% of Australian women now use pharmacological pain relief during labour and birth, and some complications may arise from this.

We are running weekend workshops in your local area which will teach you various complementary therapies to support your labour and birth. Techniques include: acupressure, breathing, visualisation, yoga and movement, education about the physiology and hormones of birth, and facilitated partner support.

We are looking for first time mums, who are less than 34 weeks in their pregnancy, over 18 years of age, and are considered low risk in their pregnancy.
