In addition to the Centre’s Public Lecture Series, we are committed to reaching the wider community through a series of workshops. These workshops explore the current lived experiences of Muslims as part of the larger Australian milieu. Through the sharing of our academic knowledge and findings, these workshops are also working towards breaking down negative stereotypes and building constructive relationships between Muslims and non-Muslim Australians.
The workshops are open to the wider public, and more specifically to the Muslim community, to people from other religious communities, as well as politicians, journalists and students.
Our first Workshop, “What do Muslims Want?", was held at the Bankstown campus on the 27 August 2009. Muslim students and members of a variety of Muslim associations attended this event and engaged in dialogue with the members of the Centre.
