Change of key program

A key program is a set of units in a Bachelor award that establishes a main, defining area of concentration or specialisation within the degree course. It will normally comprise between 120 and 160 credit points.

The University may consider applications for a change in a key program, within the same study discipline, if:

  • the normal academic requirements of the key program to which transfer is sought have been met; and
  • any course prerequisites or additional selection criteria for a particular key program have been satisfied; and
  • there is a place available in the particular key program and the University has the resources to support a transfer; and
  • applicants have successfully completed study equivalent to one full time session (i.e. 40 credit points) before applying.

How to apply to change your key program

Applications must be made in writing to the University using the Course Variation Application form which is also available from any Student Centre. Applications for the upcoming teaching session must be lodged by the last teaching day of the session prior to the session in which you want the change to commence.

The University does not guarantee the change even if the above listed conditions have been met.

Applications lodged after the due date will not be considered for the upcoming session.

International students should apply through the International Office.

Students will be notified in writing of the result of their application.

Students should also be aware that owing to timetabling, unit prerequisites and unit scheduling constraints, it may not be possible to complete the requirements of the course to which they are transferring within the standard minimum time for completion. Students may be able to apply for Advanced Standing based on studies they have completed at another institution.
