Why should I do this course?

 

The Associate Degree in Creative Industries is designed as a complete award course for people already working in the creative industries.

It provides professionals with a tertiary qualification that supports their career development and is a pathway to gaining a higher-level university qualification in either Business or Communication Arts.

The course is a University of Western Sydney Associate Degree delivered by the UWSCollege.

Applications for Term 2 2012 intake close Friday, 1 June 2012.

What are the admission requirements?

 

Applicants may be eligible for admission if they have:

  • completed the NSW HSC and attained the required ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank), or
  • completed other equivalent qualifications such as a recognised Certificate III or Certificate IV, vocational experience and attained the required entrance standard set for the course. This may include bridging/preparatory courses, para-professional and other post-secondary qualifications

In addition, all applicants must have at least 3 years relevant industry experience. Creative industries include:

  • Interactive and Visual Design
  • Music and Performing Arts
  • Film, Television and Radio
  • Writing and Publishing
  • Advertising and Marketing
  • Media and Communication
  • Visual Arts

Should the number of eligible applications exceed the number of places available, preference will be given to applicants based on the amount of work experience.

What do I need to include in my application?

 

You will need to submit some or all of the following with your application:

  1. Academic transcript of all non UWS or UWSCollege studies
  2. Statement of Service, written on company letter which states the following information:

     - your full name
     - whether you were employed on a full-time or part-time basis
     - the hours you worked per week
     - your position title
     - the period of employment in the position
     - details of the duties of the position
     - written on company letterhead
     
  3. Evidence of Membership of Professional Association(s)
  4. Proof of change of name if your qualifications are in a name other than the name under which you are applying
  5. Proof of English Language proficiency if your studies were taken in a language other than English
  6. A CV/Resume may be attached to the application (maximum 2 pages)

All documentation submitted with your application must be correctly certified by following the certifying document guidelines.

What are the fees and when do I pay them?

 

This course is Commonwealth Supported, which means the majority of your fees are paid by the Australian Government. You are required to pay the remainder, which is called your Student Contribution.
