UniTrack FAQ
How do I apply for a degree course based on my UniTrack results?
All applications for 2014 must be made through UAC. Applications will open in August 2012 and the on-time closing date is Friday 27 September 2013.
You should apply on-time even if your UniTrack results have not yet been released. Your results will be sent to UAC in plenty of time for your application to be considered. Students enrolled for the first time in Spring, in only one unit, are not eligible to apply for Autumn 2014 on the basis of their UniTrack results.
How do I apply for a degree course mid-year (for current UniTrack students)?
We will send information to your student email account if you are eligible to apply for courses mid-year. The email will have details on how to apply, the closing dates for applications and when you will find out whether your application has been successful.
Students enrolled in UniTrack for the first time this year, in only one unit, are not eligible to apply mid-year on the basis of their UniTrack results.
How do I apply to study more UniTrack units in Autumn or Spring?
We will send information to your student email account telling you how to apply, the closing dates for applications and when you will find out whether your application has been successful.
How many units can I study?
You have the opportunity to apply for two units (maximum 20 credit points) per session. This is equivalent to a part-time study load. Please note that most units are only offered during the day.
Can UniTrack help me gain entry?
UniTrack may make you more competitive for university entry after the successful completion of two or more single units. You can then apply for a degree program in the normal manner through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). Please note that a minimum of two units is required to provide you with an academic ranking which can form part of your application through UAC.
Does Unitrack guarantee me a place?
No, UniTrack does not guarantee you a place. However, it does provide you with an opportunity to obtain an academic ranking that can be assessed as part of your application. That is, your application may be more competitive if you successfully complete units through UniTrack.
You should also realise that unsuccessful attempts at UniTrack units (i.e. fail grades) will make any application based on UniTrack units less competitive as the fail grades affect the rank used to assess each application lodged through UAC.
What units can I study?
A variety of units for study are made available through UniTrack. The units are normally displayed by October for the first teaching session in the next year and by May for the second half year teaching session.
Do I get advanced standing for these units?
If you pass your units and are accepted into a degree program, you will be exempt from those units if they are part of that course. UniTrack provides you with the opportunity to fast-track your university degree.
When I have enrolled, what happens next?
You need to complete tutorial registration before each session commences in the week beginning Monday, 29 July 2013 for Spring Session or Monday, 24 February 2014 for Autumn Session. Check the timetable for the first day of your classes.
Can I continue to do UniTrack and obtain my entire degree through this scheme?
No. You cannot obtain a university degree through the UniTrack scheme. There is no limit to how many sessions you can study within the UniTrack scheme provided you do not fail, but there is a limit to the advanced standing you would receive for these units, i.e. you will receive a maximum of two years credit towards a three year degree.
Do I have to apply for each session?
Yes. If you intend to apply for UniTrack in both Autumn and Spring sessions, you will need to submit a full application for Autumn and then a supplementary application for Spring units. Applications are submitted online (opens in a new window).
Who will I be studying with?
As a UniTrack student you will be in class with degree students of the University.
I’ve changed my mind and want to withdraw
You need to notify UWS that you are withdrawing from your studies. Download and complete a Discontinue or break from studies form and lodge it at a Student Central BEFORE the census date. If you are trying to withdraw after the census date, you will incur academic and financial penalties. More information is available on the census date page.
When is the last date I can withdraw from units?
If you wish to withdraw from any units or the UniTrack program, you must "drop" the units in MyStudentRecords (opens in a new window) (MySR) on or before the census date for the teaching session in which you are studying.
What fees and charges do I need to pay?
An up-front payment is required by all successful UniTrack applicants. UniTrack is not Commonwealth Supported. The charges for each unit are in discipline bands. More information is available on the fees webpage.
