Varying your course
I want to...
Change my key program
A key program is a group of units in a bachelor course that makes up an area of specialisation within that bachelor course. A key program is usually made up of between 120 and 160 credit points.
Your application to change key program will be considered if:
- you meet the normal academic requirements of the key program you wish to transfer into
- you meet any course prerequisites or additional selection criteria attached to the key program you wish to transfer into
- there is a place available in the key program and the University has the resources to support your transfer and
- you have successfully completed study equivalent to one full time session (i.e. 40 credit points) before applying
In most courses, you can change your key program via MySR by selecting enrolment from the left menu list, selecting unit sets from the middle menu and then following the steps outlined.
Speak to your Director of Academic Program before you change your key program as changing your key program may extend the length of your course or change the way your advanced standing applies to your course.
If you are unable to change your key program via the unit sets section in MySR, you may be able to change your key program by applying for a course transfer. For more information on course transfers including how to apply and if you are eligible, go to the Transferring to a new course at UWS webpage.
The University does not guarantee approval of your request to change key program even if the conditions listed above have been met.You will be notified of the outcome of your application via email.
International students should apply through the International Office.
Please note, due to timetabling unit prerequisites and unit scheduling constraints it may not be possible to complete the requirements of the key program you are transferring to within the standard minimum time for completion.
For more information on key programs and unit sets go to the Unit sets page
Change my campus

This application involves you requesting the approval of the Director of Academic Program for your course.Changing campuses is not guaranteed as there may not be any places available on the campus of your choice. Speak to your Director of Academic Program for advice on the options available.
Please note, you cannot apply to change campus in your first session.
Move from a double degree to a single degree

This application involves you requesting the approval of the Director of Academic Program for your course. If you are enrolled in a double degree and want to change to a single degree that is not a component of your double degree (for example, from a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Business & Commerce to a Bachelor of Arts), you will need to apply for a transfer via the internal transfer process. More information is available on the Transferring to a new course at UWS webpage.
