Student Declaration
As part of the enrolment process you will have to complete a Student Declaration form. By completing the form you are agreeing to the rules and policies of the University and to your responsibilities as a UWS student.
Below is an explanation of what those rules, policies and responsibilities are.
UWS rules and policies
I agree to abide by the University of Western Sydney Act, the University of Western Sydney By-Law and the Rules and Policies of the University, as amended from time to time. I also agree that it is my responsibility to ensure that I review the By-Law, Rules and Policies of the University during my period of study as the most current rules are applied and may differ from the time of my initial enrolment. I understand I have access to these documents through the University website.
Using only UWS email account
I acknowledge that I will be provided with a UWS email account and access to the student web pages upon my enrolment. I understand that electronic communication through my UWS student email account and the student web pages will be used by the University as the primary source for the provision of notices and information. I agree that I must use my UWS student email account when corresponding with UWS by email. I also agree to check my UWS email account and the student web pages frequently (the University recommends daily during the teaching session and weekly out of the teaching session), to ensure that I receive information in a timely manner.
Paying fees
I understand that as a student of the University I must comply with the requirements for student contribution, tuition fees and any other fees as applicable, by the due dates set by the University each teaching session.
Special Requirements
If I am enrolling in a course for which a placement is required within the public health system or where there is unsupervised work with children and young people, I consent to my name being provided to the relevant authorities for a criminal record check, if required.
Records, privacy and consent
In providing my personal information to the University, I will also provide the University with my mobile telephone number through which the University may use alert me through a message (via Short Messaging Service 'SMS') to notify me on matters which may relate to my attendance at the University and for the purposes of facilitating the functions of the University as set out in this declaration. I consent to having my mobile telephone number details provided to third parties for such purposes. I also consent to having my mobile telephone number provided to such external service providers used by the University to send messages to me for the purposes of this declaration. I also agree to ensure that my mobile telephone number is current and will immediately advise the University of any change.
If I do not wish to receive these communications I must email no-sms@uws.edu.au from my student email account, stating that I do not wish to be contacted by SMS. By choosing to opt out of receiving these messages, I acknowledge that UWS may not be able to contact me with important information in an emergency situation.
Consent to release information
In providing my personal information to the University, I understand that, other than as authorised by law, the University will only use this information for the purposes for which it is being collected in accordance with the University’s functions and activities associated with my enrolment. In some instances, the University may need to disclose information to any Government department which administers or has authority regarding education or immigration policy and law and any other Government agencies (State, Territory or Federal), an affiliated entity of the University, or to third parties for the purposes of recovering unpaid University fees or other debts owed to the University, and I consent to such disclosure. I also understand that all information will be collected, stored, accessed and disseminated or destroyed in accordance with privacy, records management and other relevant laws, and the University’s policies.
Study requirements
As a student at UWS, I understand that I will be responsible for actively keeping myself informed of my tuition requirements including through consultation with relevant staff, to produce honest work and not unfairly claim credit for the work of others, to monitor my progress and seek assistance where necessary, to contribute to the life of the University and at all times to respect the rights and privileges of others in the university community and to uphold the values of the University.
Consequences for Late Enrolment
I also take full responsibility for the consequences, as they apply from the UWS Rules and Policies, for any late enrolment on my part.
International Students
If I am an international student, I acknowledge that I am required to study full-time for the duration of my course and that I also agree to abide by the International Student Fees and Refund Policy as agreed to when accepting my offer of admission.
