Counselling at UWS

How does counselling work?

Counselling is one-on-one. You can talk about any issues you're having. You and your counsellor work together to find strategies to addess your issues and achieve your goals.

When is counselling available?

Counselling is available Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 4.30pm. We're open all year including session breaks. We're closed public holidays and when the University is closed at the end of the year.

To make an appointment, please email counselling@uws.edu.au, call (02) 9852 5199 or drop in. You can have your appointment over the phone.

Where can I find the Counselling offices?

We have an office on each UWS campus:

  • Bankstown - Building 11
  • Campbelltown - Building 16
  • Hawkesbury - Building H3 (Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
  • Parramatta - Building EJd
  • Penrith (Kingswood) - Building P, room 1.04

What if I can't make it to my appointment?

If you can't make it to your appointment, you can arrange a different time or have the appointment over the phone. If you're running late, let us know on (02) 9852 5199.

Will I get an appointment right away?

An appointment will usually be available within a few days. However, some times of year can be busy and there may be a short waiting period. You can call the Counselling Service (Monday to Friday) at 9.00am to register your interest in attending any appointments that become available due to cancellations.

Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?

If your appointment is about special consideration, review of grade or withdrawing without academic penalty, it's best to bring the documentation with you.

I've made an appointment, what next?

Before your appointment, you might like to try a few 'do-it-yourself' things. Have a look at the resources on the stress and your wellbeing page.
