Disability Service facilities
Training in assistive technology
You might need to use specialised software. It can help with your studies and even your career after university. Training can be arranged on your campus.
Access rooms
Access rooms are available on all campuses. They're safe and quiet with computers, printers, the latest software including JAWS, Dragon and Magic, and CCTVs. You can use them to study, use the software or just take some time out. You will need permission to use these rooms.
Advocacy for disability related issues
We can advise and assist you with any disability related concerns that affect your studies. We can negotiate with academics and other University staff to make sure you're not disadvantaged.
We can also attend meetings with you or help you write a complaint.
Referrals
You might be referred to other services. Some of the UWS services we commonly refer students to include:
- Counselling Service
If you ask for counselling or we think it might be beneficial, we'll refer you to a counsellor and make an appointment for you. We do not provide counselling.

- Student Learning Unit
Bridging programs and skills workshops are available throughout the teaching session. We might recommend a workshop to help your studies. Workshops are run through the Student Learning Unit.

Non-disability related issues might be referred to the campus Welfare officer. Welfare officers can help with financial issues, Centrelink, forms and support for misconduct hearings.
