Step 7 Get your student ID card

How do I get my student ID card?

Once you have enrolled correctly in MySR, you can visit any Student Central to get your student ID card. You need to bring your student ID number with you, as well as a current Driver's Licence, passport or other photo ID.

It should only take five minutes for your card to be prepared. If you are eligible for a travel concession, you can arrange that at the same time as your ID card.

Why do I need a student ID card?

You must have a student ID card and have it with you at all times when on campus. This photo ID is used for library and photocopier services, accessing campus computer labs and for identification purposes while on campus and in exams.

It is a misconduct offence if a student refuses or is unable to identify him/herself when asked to do so by an officer of the University (e.g. security officer, exam supervisor).

Replacement cards

If your card is lost or stolen, you will need to pay a $25 replacement fee. Payment for a replacement ID card can be made using iPay. No fee applies if your card has been damaged or you have changed your name, however you must return the previous card. If you do not return your previous card, you will be required to pay the $25 fee.

To collect your replacement card, take your iPay receipt to a Student Central. You must attend the Student Central in person.

Travel concessions

Student Central issue travel concessions on behalf of NSW Transport. Concessions are only available to students who meet NSW Transport's strict conditions.

Travel concessions can be used for trains and buses. Get more information about NSW travel concession conditions (opens in a new window).

How to apply

If you meet the conditions, print and fill out the standard application form and submit it at any Student Central. The standard travel concession application form is located on the Transport NSW website (under the heading 'Student application forms').

When you sign the application form, you are declaring that you meet these conditions. NSW Transport run random audits of travel concessions. If they find you've provided false information you may be penalised. If you stop studying or start working, you must return your concession to Student Central immediately.

Replacement stickers

You will need to print and complete a Tertiary Student Concession Card replacement application form, which is located on the Transport NSW website (under the heading 'Student application forms').

The form must be endorsed by a Student Central Officer before you present it to State Rail for a replacement. A State Rail fee applies for any replacement stickers.
