Important @mail information

UWS is closing the old @mail student email system on 31 March 2012. This means you will have to move any important emails and contact details to your MyMail account before this date. 
After this date you will not be able to log into @mail or have access to any emails within it.

MyMail is the free email service UWS provides you with when you become a student at UWS. MyMail is managed and provisioned by UWS and hosted by Microsoft’s Live@edu. It allows you to automatically forward your UWS emails to a personal or work account so you don’t have to access multiple accounts, send attachments up to 10MB and gives you 10GB of online mailbox storage space.

Use of MyMail is subject to University Student Email (opens in a new window) policy, IT Acceptable Use of Resources (opens in a new window), MyMail conditions of use (opens in a new window), and other relevant University policies.

Access MyMail 

How do I activate my MyMail account?


If you are a new student you will need to activate your account via MyUWSAccount (opens in a new window) before going to MyMail. The password you create when you activate will also give you access to Platform Web, vUWS and General Purpose Computer Labs.

This password expires every 60 days. You will need to return to MyUWSAccount (opens in a new window) to change your password.

If you are a continuing student you have had access to MyMail since 5 October 2010 when it replaced the old @mail system. If you havn’t activated your MyMail account, you will simply need to log into MyUWS (opens in a new window) and click the MyMail link.

Access is delivered via a ‘Single Sign On’ process, so you will always be directed straight through to your email account even after changing your UWS password.

Your UWS email address will stay the same. The old UWS email system will be made read only and all your emails will now be delivered through MyMail.

You will still be able to access the old email system so you can migrate any emails you want to keep from your old email account to your new MyMail account.

What is my student email address?


Your official address will be <your studentID>@student.uws.edu.au (no <> brackets).

How will I access MyMail?


You can access MyMail by logging onto the MyUWS (opens in a new window) Student Portal and clicking MyMail.

As per UWS policy (opens in a new window), you must check your student email frequently.

Use of MyMail is a condition of enrolment and students who do not activate their MyMail account by 31 October may have an encumbrance applied to their student record. Any encumbrance will be lifted once the MyMail account is activated.
