Student email upgrade

Upgrade details

The student email system was upgraded over the weekend of 28 June-1 July 2013. If you have questions about changes to the student email system, visit the Email upgrade FAQs webpage.

Important details:

  • If you had stored files in SkyDrive, and you did not take action to move these files or keep access to SkyDrive before the upgrade took place, you no longer have access to that data
  • Your account now has a new look

After the upgrade:

  • Your email address, password, inbox and email history are the same
  • You can still access your email via the MyUWS Student Portal
  • You can still be able to access your email from a mobile device
  • Optional Microsoft services (SkyDrive, Messenger) can only be accessed from www.skydrive.com (if you set up your access before the upgrade)
  • The Microsoft Office 365 logo is displayed instead of the UWS logo

Enhancements to email

The student email upgrade will provide the following enhancements to student email:

  • Your maximum inbox size is now 25GB
  • Maximum attachment sizes is now 10MB
  • You can now send up to 100 attachments
  • Maximum email size limit is now as follows:
    • When emailing another student - 25Mb
    • When emailing UWS - 10Mb
    • When emailing an outside organisation - limit will depend on each organisation's limits

After the upgrade

Accessing student email

  • Computer: you’ll still be able to log in to your email via the MyUWS Student Portal and clicking 'Student email' link in the left hand navigation list. You will then see a log on page - enter your student email address (12345678@student.uws.edu.au) as your user ID and use your normal UWS password
  • Mobile device: you can also set up your student email on your iPad, tablet or smart phone by following the instructions on the How do I access my student email with an iPad webpage

Updating your password

Changing your password is the same process after the upgrade – follow the instructions to reset your password at MyUWSAccount password expiry webpage. More information about password expiry is also available on the Password expiry FAQ webpage.
