2009 SYMPOSIUM Governing the Economy: the challenges & the possibilities – November 30, 2009

The Whitlam Institute and the University of Western Sydney School of Economics and Finance are presenting a Symposium to address the contemporary challenges of economic governance for Australia from a variety of institutional perspectives articulated by institutional leaders themselves. Forums Series: Getting to Grips with the Economy

The Whitlam Institute and the University of Western Sydney School of Economics and Finance are presenting a series of topical, educational forums to help increase understanding and debate about the state of the Australian economy, the implications for us all, and what Australia’s economic options are in the context of the continuing and dramatic global economic turmoil. Professor Raja Junankar says broad-based tax cuts are no answer

ABC Radio’s PM program ran a story ‘Are tax cuts the answer?’ on 2 February 2009. In it, reporter Stephen Long quoted Prof. Junankar at length especially while referring to the similarities between Opposition’s policy of sweeping tax cuts to increase the tax base and the one followed by the Reagan Administration in the US. Peter Wills was added to the Meritorious Service Award Honour Board at the Australian Property Institute on the 10th December 2008. Read more

Professor Ronald A. Ratti joins School of Economics and Finance

The new Professor of Finance has started work with the School from 21 July. He was earlier a Professor of Economics at University of Missouri-Columbia. Read more
