Our Master of Education Programs

Our Master of Education programs offer degrees in Social Ecology, Leadership, and Special Education. It offers a fresh approach to professional learning for people from a range of professions and community contexts. Through a combination of intensive conferences and web-based learning, you have the opportunity to examine contemporary issues and to direct your own learning in a practical way.

The Master of Education programs are designed to provide flexibility so that students can follow their own areas of particular personal and professional interest through their two year part time program of study. At the intensive conferences in January and July at the beginning of each semester you will meet people from a broad range of social, environmental and educational contexts and diverse professions. The three programs share common core units in:

  • Transformative Learning,
  • Transformative Leadership,
  • Researching Practice and
  • Independent Study: Practice in Context.

Specialised units allow further in depth study within your program so you can frame your study to suit your particular needs and future aspirations. You are also able to select electives across the broader suite of units offered.

In the Master of Education (Leadership) the focus is on best practice and next practice which take account of our rapidly changing society, and refer to the need to imagine and implement developments in learning for future generations.

The program has study features that make it attractive for teachers (primary, secondary, early childhood) and education professionals in other settings (TAFE, community education, nurse and other professional education). Intensives are offered in school holidays to enable education professionals engaged in full-time employment to attend.

This postgraduate course is not an initial teacher education program however it will help teachers and education professionals already in practice to meet further professional development requirements for teacher accreditation with the NSW Institute of Teachers and to effectively meet the challenges of career and leadership development.
