Part 9A of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 requires the University to report on Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) in its Annual Report to the NSW Parliament.
EEO is about ensuring that all employees have equal access to the opportunities that are available at work by:
EEO groups are people affected by past or continuing disadvantage or discrimination in employment. The NSW Government has identified these groups and set specific employment targets for these groups in the workforce:
Equity and Diversity prepare annual statistical reports on the participation of EEO groups in the workforce. The latest data on staff equity is the 2010-2011 EO Data Report - General Staff and the 2010-2011 EO Data Report - Academic Staff.
The University is a 2009 EOWA Employer of Choice for Women, a prestigious citation that recognises the University's efforts and achievements in the area of equal opportunity for women.
UWS is required by legislation to report to EOWA each year on workplace programs and activities aimed at eliminating discrimination and contributing to equal opportunity for women. However in aknowledgement of the University's women friendly programs and policies, UWS is currently waived from the requirement of reporting annually to EOWA.
Equity and Diversity continue to analyse the workforce annually to monitor issues for women employees and initiate measures to address these issues.
The latest data on women at UWS is the UWS Gender Workforce Profile for 2010-2011.
