Master of Information and Communications Technologies

 

The Master of Information and Communications Technologies (MICT) has been designed to prepare computing professionals and recent graduates for work in the information and communications technologies sector at the highest levels in today’s thoroughly globalised and networked environment. It will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to deal effectively with advanced issues in information and communications technologies. Graduates of the course will possess a solid foundation that will allow them to maintain their skills as their specialised fields evolve.

There are three streams available in the MICT, including Web Engineering, Networking and a Generic stream.

At UWS, we recognise and concentrate on the vital role that computer networks, including the internet, and web technologies play. The course is also designed with an open architecture that allows every student to tailor it according to their needs and planned career paths. The two open electives make it possible for you to also choose from other areas of interest.

This course reflects the active research interests and strengths of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) academic staff in networking and web engineering. The electives also draw upon the expertise available in various schools of the University.

  • Web Engineering stream roles include web engineer, web developer, web project leader, web manager, e-business specialist, e-business developer, enterprise application developer, enterprise application project leader, workflow specialist, workflow project leader.
  • Networking stream roles include network specialist, network project leader, network manager, network engineer, network administrator, network security officer/specialist, security officer/specialist, multimedia engineer/specialist, mobile system developer/specialist.
  • Generic stream roles include IT specialist, IT project manager, IT manager, systems manager, developer, IT consultant, project leader, software developer, solutions architect.
