The University of Western Sydney has identified three key areas of need which it will focus its fundraising efforts on. Areas of need are based on academic, student and community need and include:
Scholarships and Prizes
The gift of knowledge is
one of the most effective ways of empowering a student to embrace
opportunity, growth and change. The UWS Scholarships and Prizes Program
acknowledges academic and personal achievements, encouraging students
to strive for excellence and fulfil their potential. For some students,
a scholarship may be their only opportunity to access quality tertiary
education. The rewards of a scholarship go far beyond a student’s time
at University as they embark on their professional careers that
contribute to the advancement of our communities and industries now and
in the future.
Research and Teaching Positions
The University
of Western Sydney needs to continually attract and invest in leading
teachers and researchers in order to enhance the leadership and
education capacity of our region. UWS encourages postgraduate learning
because of the impact research will have on industry, government and
community development. The quality of teaching at UWS also needs to
continually evolve, to ensure that our graduates are confident when
entering the professional practice.
Teaching Facilities
UWS must continually
increase its capacity so it can meet the demands of a growing
population in Greater Western Sydney. Within the next five to ten years
it is estimated that UWS will have an enrolment of over 50 000
students. To match this demand, UWS will require careful planning and
management to ensure that growth areas are supported by developments in
infrastructure, physical facilities and increases in teaching
resources.
