About the UWS Foundation

With the desire to make a difference and a passion for providing opportunity, the UWS Foundation is Bringing Knowledge to Life.

Through sustained partnerships between the University, the community and the world of business, the UWS Foundation aims to support educational and regional development by raising funds to support important projects such as scholarships, prizes, research, teaching positions, academic programs and teaching facilities.

The UWS Foundation was established in 1991 and is led by a group of people who are passionate about the University, its students, staff and community. They volunteer their time to ensure that every donor’s wish is fulfilled, managing each gift so that it makes the ultimate difference by inspiring lives and enhancing the future of our community.

Through new and existing partnerships, the UWS Foundation strives to overcome the increasing pressures faced by Universities to find sources of non government funding. With community and industry support, the University of Western Sydney will continue to provide the highest standard of learning opportunities to the Greater Western Sydney Region and beyond.

Fundraising Priorities

The UWS Foundation supports a variety of projects and programs at UWS, although in order to provide financial support where it is needed the most, current fundraising priorities include:

  • UWS Medical School
  • New Teaching Building
  • Scholarships and Prizes

UWS Medical School

Greater Western Sydney is already the largest urban region in Australia and as the population grows, so does the need for professional medical practitioners. The University of Western Sydney’s Medical School will receive its first intake of 80 medical students in 2007.

The Western Sydney Medical School Campaign will need to raise considerable funds over the next ten years, to successfully establish and sustain a world class Medical School, which will significantly impact the future of health care in Greater Western Sydney and beyond.

New Teaching Building

Within the next five to ten years it is estimated that UWS will have an enrolment of over 50,000 students. To meet this demand, UWS will need to support this growth with developments in its infrastructure, physical facilities and teaching resources.

The new teaching building is one of the first major projects, which has been designed to specifically support a growing student community. Situated at the Parramatta Campus, it will be a state of the art facility – purpose built to effectively meet the needs of staff and students from a variety of academic schools including Law, Business and Nursing.

Scholarships and Prizes

Scholarships and prizes at the University of Western Sydney represent support, opportunity and growth. UWS Scholarships and Prizes Program acknowledge academic and personal achievements, encouraging students to strive for excellence and fulfil their potential.  By funding scholarships and prizes at UWS, we are empowering students to embark on their future with a professional and innovative approach.
