Suggested Wording for Bequests

Unrestricted Bequest

“I give to the University of Western Sydney the whole of my Estate [OR ... % of my Estate, the residue of my Estate; OR the sum of $... AND/OR the following property...] free of all duties and deductions, to be applied for the purposes of the University in such manner as the Board of Trustees of the University, or its successors, may determine.”

Specific Bequest

“I give to the University of Western Sydney the whole of my Estate [OR ... % of my Estate, the residue of my Estate; OR the sum of $... AND/OR the following property...] free of all duties and deductions, to be applied for the following purpose [insert scholarship, capital purposes, operating costs, specific department etc].”

For Scholarships

“I give to the University of Western Sydney the whole of my Estate [OR ... % of my Estate, the residue of my Estate; OR the sum of $... AND/OR the following property...] free of all duties and deductions, to establish one or more scholarships for [insert general description of area to be supported e.g. disadvantaged students, refugees, medicine.] [Each Scholarship is to be called [insert name of scholarship] in the area for which it is awarded.]”

For Research

“I give to the University of Western Sydney the whole of my Estate [OR ... % of my Estate, the residue of my Estate; OR the sum of $... AND/OR the following property....] free of all duties and deductions, for research in the field of [insert general description of area of research e.g. sustainability, mental health.]”
