Establishing a New Scholarship

A scholarship may be established through a donation or sponsorship from $10,000 per year. A scholarship can be established to support undergraduate and postgraduate students, including:

  • students studying specific courses or research disciplines
  • students from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Indigenous students
  • non-school leaving students (mature-aged students)
  • students who are the first in their family to attend University
  • International students
  • students who have demonstrated academic excellence in their studies
  • students who have strong leadership potential or have contributed significantly to their community
  • elite sporting or creative excellence students

Donor funded scholarships for Honours and PhD students can be established to support the development of the University's research and innovation programs. These scholarships provide The University with the added capacity to attract and retain the best and brightest emerging researchers to Western Sydney, while assisting The University to increase its discovery potential and impact on the communities of Western Sydney.

We work closely with business and industry to offer scholarships that support mutually advantageous career development pathways and employment opportunities. We are committed to producing 'career ready' graduates, and constantly seeks to partner with business and industry to achieve this outcome.

Chancellor's Scholarship Appeal

Emeritus Chancellor of Western Sydney University, Professor Peter Shergold AC has established the Chancellor's Scholarship Appeal to provide opportunity and encouragement to those students who might not otherwise have the chance to study at university due to financial or other hardship.

Janice Reid Scholarship Fund

The Janice Reid Scholarship for disadvantaged Western Sydney University students was launched in honour of the Vice-Chancellor who retired at the end of 2013 after serving the University and Western Sydney Community for 16 years.
