2013 Autumn graduates celebrate years of dedication to their education

Even the rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the more than 4,000 new UWS graduates at this year’s Autumn graduation ceremonies. Thousands of proud and excited family and friends joined our newest graduates at the Parramatta campus to celebrate years of hard work and dedication.

Graduates were welcomed into the academy for all manner of courses, from nursing and allied health to engineering, computing, business and law. Qualifications ranged from bachelors and honours, to masters and PhDs.

As the graduates started to plan their careers and build their future they were asked to reflect on how they could give back to the UWS community. Many graduates responded to this ask by making a small gift to the ‘give as you go’ appeal, set up for graduates and their families to celebrate their success through a donation to support UWS Community Scholarships for students in need.

In 2012 with thanks to our graduates and UWS staff we were able to provide 5 new community scholarships to support students experiencing hardship. Antonious Nehme, one of the recipients of the community scholarships says 'the scholarship will allow me to finish my degree without financial hassles, which will in turn allow me to achieve my goal of becoming a prosecutor'. It’s students like Antonious who need the support of the UWS community to reach their goals and ultimately celebrate their own graduation.

Thank you to all those graduating students who donated to the Autumn Graduation Gift Appeal this year. You are helping to ensure many more students reach milestones in their education.

Give now to join our graduates and support scholarships for UWS students.
